Janelle Monáe Thinks She Time Traveled to See David Bowie Do Ziggy Stardust in the 70s

Janelle Monae: I think when I saw David Bowie.
Lucy Dacus: You saw him?
Janelle Monae: I did. I traveled back into the 1970s, and I saw him do Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from Mars, and it was incredible.
Lucy Dacus: You'd traveled back?
Janelle Monae: Yeah, it was backstage.

What?

Also, this reaction right here from Lucy Dacus is obviously priceless.

But yes, seemingly, Janelle Monae is of the belief that at one point she traveled back in time and saw David Bowie perform his classic Ziggy Stardust record, and that then inspired her artistry and growth way back in the 2000s when she came back to present time at the time.

I don't know if I need to say this sounds crazy, but I will play devil's advocate and say The ArchAndroid, The Electric Lady, Dirty Computer – these are some of my favorite pop and R&B records of the past 10 plus years. You know what? If traveling back in time and seeing David Bowie perform live is what inspired those albums, then, God damn it, it must have happened. Maybe if we could all just do a little bit more time traveling, we could possibly see it Janelle's way.

What do you think?
