Music journalism update here: Continues to die before our very eyes.

Influential long-running publications and outlets like Brooklyn Vegan and Alt Press are now being hollowed out with multiple layoffs, thanks mostly to the parent company Veeps. Which, apparently, the main brains over there are its parent company Live Nation and the Good Charlotte guys.

Really cool of them to do that. Awesome guys... The number of independent and human-curated platforms that are actually digging into underground and obscure music on a daily basis is shrinking every year.

While some may write off the value of that very thing. Make no mistake, that is the mindset the companies hollowing out these platforms would like you to have. Because if they had no value to them whatsoever, if controlling these platforms wasn't important, they wouldn't destroy them, they wouldn't control them, they wouldn't be so desperate to buy them out every time

What do you think?
