Geese played SNL, and they absolutely killed it, with a roaring performance of "Trinidad", where the most aggressive and peak moments sounded monstrous, sounded just mind-blowing.
They did a nice little rendition of "Cocaine", too, where Cameron Winter was sounding especially expressive. The fans liked it. It was a good show out for sure. The band, I would say, even overcame SNL's famously dry, awkward live sound.
But not all of the reactions were positive, with some people saying it was handily the worst SNL live performance they've ever seen. Apparently, it was not enough to win over MAGA Mimi.
But yeah, a lot of weird, awkward, normy responses for sure across Twitter and Reddit. And it just goes to show how annoying the geese blowing up, becoming mainstream, and the gatekeeping discourse has been on social media around TikTok and the like. Because if anything, these reactions just show the band has only begun to scratch the surface of the mainstream.
Just because they're popular right now with New York indie heads and your FYPs are inundating you with geese content that you're voluntarily reacting to, it doesn't mean suddenly the band has lost their indie cred, and they're the biggest group in the world of all time, all of a sudden.
They're still sitting at 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Can we catch a grip? Can we get a grip? Just a touch of reality. Touch grass!
