Name a cover that is better than the original.
And I swear to God, before I even dig in this thread, there's going to be a million Johnny Cash "Hurt" replies, which is a fine cover. It's just everyone's go-to, I feel like.
Okay, off the bat, I didn't know Chromatics covered Bruce Springsteen. And interesting pick, I'm not super familiar with the cover myself, but I could see them redoing it in their own special dream poppy way.
Oasis covered "My Generation" and "it's effing fire." I mean, I would hope. Would there even be an Oasis without the Who?
"Warpigs" from Cake. I mean, I do love a "Warpigs" cover, but I'm pretty sure at this point it's T-Pain's cover of "Warpigs" that is the goated "Warpigs" cover.
Not the "Smooth Criminal" Alien Ant Farm. I mean, look, it's a fun cover if you just want to listen to something specifically in that 2000s alternative metal rock vibe. But better than the Michael Jackson version? No.
"Man Who Sold the World". Nirvana covering David Bowie. That is one example that I would actually fully agree. I mean, David had a million amazing songs, obviously. Many that, in my opinion, would probably be impossible to improve upon. But you got this one, and a musician of Kurt Cobain's caliber is leapfrogging it. It just is what it is.
What do you think?
