Here was my favorite performance at the Grammys.
Tyler, The Creator absolutely smashed it in his performance. Not only was his energy so incredibly high the entire time, but just the set design and the amount of concept and narrative that went into everything β and the way he signaled to viewers that he sees himself as going through this process where he's destroying old iterations of himself and moving on to new things β was a very forward-thinking approach. He's clearly not afraid to challenge his fans.
Now, here is my least favorite performance at the Grammys. It's so crazy seeing Justin Bieber here after the high amount of production value that clearly went into some of the songs played at the Grammys. For sure, after all these years, the quality of Justin's voice has definitely held up. But, you're coming up on stage in your boxers to show everyone in the audience your loop station, and that you can put in a couple kick drums along a tempo and a pattern. You could see a performance that is just about this good at your local coffee shop's open mic night β except you won't have to watch a guy in his underwear act like he's cooler than he is.
