What do you even say at this point? I feel like every single time I have to talk about DJ Akademiks on this channel, it's because he's doing or saying another thing that just further proves he is the biggest, fattest, most vainy, horrid, and ugly, hideous hemorrhid on the ass of music journalism. Which, shockingly, I'm not saying because of this recent clip where he's talking about how cool and logical Nick Fuentes is - a man I would never think I would have to mention more than once within a month's time on this channel.
"Shout out to the boy Nick, though. Nick is a cool dude. There's one time I was like, I would never be in the same room with him. Now he a cool dude, though. I follow him. When he go up on some little racist tension, I don't like that. But I like his logical... He'll make logical arguments, and I'm logical." - DJ Akademiks
But no, an even bigger story has seemingly just come out where Akademiks has just admitted multiple times on camera to receiving a large sum of money for favorable coverage of a particular artist, in this case, Lil Baby.
Austen, will you roll the clip?
"Any of you guys lie about anything I'm saying. And if I'm lying about it, I promise you I will show my whole bank account for every dollar I ever gave me in life, I will give it back to you because I do not respect whole bank. I will give it back. P, Baby, the entire, and I'm telling you, even Universal Music Group, Capital Records, Motown, I will give every dollar back. And I'm telling you, I got the receipts." - DJ Akademiks
For anyone who's wondering, there is some context to what Ack is saying here. And of course, it involves bullshit, it involves drama. Where, allegedly - because not all the facts have come out yet - I guess an associate of Baby's has pressed or maybe slapped Ack. Maybe because he was directed to, maybe out of retaliation, maybe for some personal reason. We don't know right now.
All that's clear is some confrontation or altercation has happened. Ack has connected this interaction directly to Baby. And now because of it, he's crashing out. He's threatening to fight him.
"Baby, if you got a problem with me, don't tell your man's you squashing it with me. Don't get on the phone Rod Wave. I'll squabble up with you anywhere, anytime. You dumped it, and then you had your pussy ass assistant. I'll squabble with you anytime. You're a drug addict. You're stupid as fuck, bro. Lil Baby, I hope your whole family dies if deny this, if you ever deny this." - DJ Akademiks
And he thinks he's making some God-tier chess move by admitting to taking money from Lil Baby for favorable coverage, or in this case, a lack of negative coverage around his last full-length LP.
"This is why I get disrespectful. I'm going to start really getting on business. Yo, little baby, you and your team paid me $30,000 to keep quiet about your fucking album money. You all paid me." - DJ Akademiks
Which just confirms what we have all presumed for, at this point, years, given Ack's biases toward artists like Drake, the irrational defense he was making of Tory Lanez in the midst of everything he had going on with Megan. Ack accepts undisclosed amounts of money in order to spin narratives, to push certain perspectives or opinions, or to avoid attacking or saying anything negative at all about particular figures in the music industry.
And again, he somehow thinks that bringing this up and admitting this puts Lil Baby and his team in a position of weakness. It's a move that's honestly so fucking stupid. It makes you wonder how Ack got in this position in the first place. Because if anything, this response has basically given Lil Baby bulletproof armor when it comes to any criticism Ack has for him from here forward. Because on camera, Ack is basically admitting that any negative thing he is driven to say about Lil Baby from here into the future is going to be entirely motivated by his personal hatred for him. So we can thereby throw anything Ack says about Baby in the trash because it's just going to be personal bullshit.
And also, Ack really picked up the bag here because if there really was ever a chance of his team paying you $300,000 to be quiet on him once again, how would that ever be money well spent? Because since you have admitted this, if you were to be paid $300K and started saying positive things about Lil Baby, everyone would know it's because he paid you.
In fact, you've pretty much fucked up any chance of any other artist making the same payment to you into the future. Because anybody else you are saying nice things about from here forward, everyone's going to assume it's because you've gotten paid. Because you've literally just admitted it.
At this point, I don't know how much more weird shit this guy can put on his rap sheet, on his resume. You're basically Drake's lap dog. Multiple times over, you volunteered to collaborate with a guy that has a weird sex case. You got your own crazy ass case with that poor woman. You were saying some wild stuff to that 15-year-old boy who you had no business talking to.
And after all of that, during a period in your career where you have all the reason in the world to just chill the hell out, be on your best behavior, stop treating journalism him like a full-contact sport. You could have been riding high. You just got a proper interview with ASAP Rocky off the back of a very successful new album. But all you ended up doing was proving his accusation against you in the conversation that you do pay for play.
"When I go to your page, it's nothing but drama. You used to be posting what you thought was fire on some Tumblr shit. Now you're getting so political that we know that n– gave you five bands to post that bum ass video. Ack, I had to call you one time. You don't be posting shit that you feel like, 'Yo, this is fire.' Don't lie, gangsta." - ASAP Rocky
"We don't do pay for play. You can't buy my opinion. I've always said, the moment you could buy my opinion, I don't matter. The moment you could buy my opinion. I don't matter." - DJ Akademiks
You literally told us to our faces and thought you were being cool while doing it.
You're a fucking loser, dude. Like, by all accounts.
But yeah, don't basically take anything this says seriously from here forward, because as he has told you in his own words, whatever this man says is motivated by personal pettiness and money, and that's it. He has no critical mind. He has no filter. He has no perspective. He has no anything. He's just a greasy, money hungry freak who will say anything so long as it benefits him.
And that's it. Bada bam, bada bing, bada boom. You don't have to agree with anything I said, but you do have to subscribe. Forever.
"Did you think I was a cheap hoe that just could be bought?" - DJ Akademiks
