Dallas rapper Yella Beezy's trial on murder-for-hire charges is scheduled to begin February 2, 2026, his attorney Toby Shook said Monday, according to the Dallas Observer.
While a hearing to set a trial date was scheduled for August 25, the hearing was postponed due to the judge's absence. However, Shook and state prosecutors signed an agreement setting the trial for February.
Yella Beezy, 33, was arrested March 20 in Dallas County, Texas, on a warrant charging him in the 2020 shooting death of rival rapper Mo3. Prosecutors say Beezy, whose real name is Markies Conway, hired two men to murder Mo3, whose real name was Melvin Noble, in exchange for payment.
The two rappers were infamous rivals, dissing each other in songs and popular podcasts. Other deaths have been rumored to be linked to the rap beef, including Dallas comedian Roy Lee Pate.
Beezy was released from Dallas County Jail March 28 after a judge reduced his bond from $2 million to $750,000 under the conditions of home confinement and GPS monitoring. His grandmother, a retired Dallas County deputy clerk, testified that the multi-platinum rapper could not afford the original bond amount.
A pre-trial hearing has been set for January 9, 2026, according to court records obtained by Observer stringer and noted hip-hop journalist Bryson "Boom" Paul.
