yasiin bey and The Alchemist supergroup FORENSICS to livestream debut album this Friday

On Friday, February 7 at 9:00 pm CET, yasiin bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and The Alchemist will premiere their new collaborative album FORENSICS on Bandcamp with a live performance. It's their first work together under the Forensics moniker.

The performance costs $9.99 USD for viewers and will be available for repeat viewings up to 48 hours after its conclusion, but only for those who bought tickets to the stream. Those who do not watch the stream live can purchase the recording on Vimeo OTT.

If, for some reason, you skip the live performance and the Vimeo recording, you'll be able to purchase FORENSICS later down the line. It's set to release digitally and on vinyl on March 28, 2025, although that date is not set in stone as the press release states:

Pre-orders will go live in the near future, and the release date is targeted for 28th March 2025.

Concerning the ideology behind the album, the press release says:

FORENSICS™ is more than the name of an album, it’s descriptive of a new approach to delivering art, bringing together the experience of musical content with fashion, visual art, technology and community. The approach foments an intimate bond with the artists’ core audience, delivering an experience that resonates on multiple levels.

To elaborate on that, it's reported that Forensics is also the name of a fashion brand that will allow fans to access merchandise, upcoming music, and more through their mobile devices. Details are still scant on this front as well.

FORENSICS is bey's second recent livestream performance as he streamed his first album in five years, Money Christmas, back in December. That EP is set to release on March 15, 2025. The Alchemist also released a record in December, that being The Skeleton Key, his second with Roc Marciano. He's set to drop two more this year; Life is Beautiful with Larry June and 2 Chainz on February 7, and a currently untitled album with Big Sean that has no firm release date.
