Worthitpurchase announce third self-titled album, share "Something New"

Following debut LP Dizzy Age and follow-up Truthtelling, Los Angeles-based lo-fi pop outfit Worthitpurchase have announced their third self-titled LP, Worthitpurchase, out October 3.

With this announcement, the project founded by singer-songwriter duo Nicole Rowe and Omar Akrouche released new single "Something New". You can watch the music video, directed by Michael Danescu, below:

“It’s kind of a push-and-pull between two characters who take themselves way too seriously," Rowe says of "Something New". "They’re both convinced they’re the reasonable one in the relationship, but it’s not even clear if they like each other.” Akrouche adds: “It always amazes me how quickly a song can emerge from nothing— just an abstract thought in someone’s head that suddenly becomes real. That spark of creation is what the title refers to.”

Following the technicolor pop leanings of Truthtelling, Worthitpurchase grapples with the dawning of adulthood, filtered through offbeat ‘90s rock of Beck and the icy electronics of Lali Puna. Worthitpurchase’s ambient-electro guitar-pop, or self-described “cyber-folk,” channels a very specific era of digital nostalgia.

“I think a lot of my lyrics have to do with ‘why is being an adult this way?’ and ‘we were promised flying cars, but it’s not actually like that,’” Rowe says. “Everybody’s just suffering together, and we’re not really acknowledging it.”
