Weezer share lead single “Shine Again” from upcoming Kenneth Blume and Klas Åhlund-produced album

Weezer have released “Shine Again”, the lead single from their upcoming, still-untitled, twentieth album — frontman Rivers Cuomo considers each SZNZ EP to be individual albums in their discography — their first via Reprise/Warner Records.

Kenneth Blume (fka Kenny Beats) and Klas Åhlund have produced the entire album and recorded it at Blume’s Putnam Hill studio, including the new track, which is written by the band’s drummer, Patrick Wilson. Check the lyric video below:

Cuomo said in an interview that he interprets the new song and its sound as “confidence in ourselves again, and just trusting ourselves as a four-piece creative unit, and saying the sun is shining within us and to look there for inspiration.”

Kenneth Blume recently did a Q&A on Reddit, answering fans’ questions about the making of the album, saying that every single song on the album was recorded on tape with the group together, with no tempo reference; that he studied a lot of Weezer’s music, like the White Album, which he wasn’t familiar with, and more.
