Guess you'll call them Rip Torn: Wednesday

Wednesday covered MJ Lenderman for April Fools' Day

MJ Lenderman may or may not still be playing guitar in Wednesday after he and frontwoman Karly Hartzman broke up around the same time his own solo career took off big time with 2024's acclaimed Manning Fireworks. He contributed to the band's even more riotously acclaimed 2025 album Bleeds.

But Lenderman did confirm he stepped back from touring with the band, and Hartzman detailed her side of the heartbreak in a moving Vulture essay last year. The good news is there don't seem to be hard feelings.

Yesterday at Boston, MA venue Roadrunner, Wednesday (sans Lenderman) opened their set with a good chunk of Lenderman's own solo track "Manning Fireworks" before a few giggles and launching into their own standard tour opener "Realty TV Argument Bleeds".

This is a good, wholesome April Fools' prank; here's hoping Lenderman braves all nine screeching minutes of "Bull Believer" on his own to up the ante next year.

Watch it go down below.
