Almost four years after their last major release, Hideaway, SoCal surf punks Wavves are back with a new song, a new benefit show, and a new cannabis venture from do-it-all frontman Nathan Williams.
Taking to Instagram for the string of announcements, Williams broke down the last 15 months of Wavves and what fans should expect from the project moving forward:
"Hello friends. Long time no see. To say the past 15 months was rough would be an understatement. It seemed like whatever could go wrong did go wrong. Bad luck, cold streak, call it whatever you want, but I couldn't catch a break. Some of it probably my fault if we're being honest I do love a little self sabotage but f**k all the waxing poetic we made it here and that's what counts ... New song. New company. New beginnings. Never gonna stop me. Not because I'm some tough bullet proof guy but because this is the only thing I'm good at lol. Stay tuned. We've got A LOT of s**t planned. I love you all."
Shortly thereafter, Williams announced that Wavves was going to do their part in Los Angeles fire relief with a special benefit show at LA's famous Zebulon Club, with tickets selling quickly for the intimate show.
After initially promising a new song and album back in 2024, Wavves went oddly silent for much of the year, with the project now returning with a new song, a new show, and a collection of four new categories of cannabis products under the Wavvy moniker, which will reportedly be available to purchase in California stores by the end of the month according to the company's official Instagram page.
Will Wavves take the world by storm in 2025? Only time will tell, but as the musical world deals with the rise of AI, Williams and company are looking to diversify their holdings in the pursuit of remaining the Kings of the Beach.
