Wavves announces 'Cherry Soda' collab record with Say Anything

Just over a year after the release of their latest album, Spun, Wavves is back with a new album announcement, only this time, it's a collaborative effort with seminal 2000s emo outfit Say Anything.

Launching the project with a new single, "Deathx1k", Wavves' Nathan Williams and Say Anything's Max Bemis trade lines like vintage Taking Back Sunday in a song that would feel perfectly at home in a Hot Topic circa 2007.

Taking to social media to announce the project, Williams let fans know how the album came together and why making a mall emo album in 2026 is a natural progression for his project.

"Side quest! About a year ago our buds Say Anything slid into the DMs and pitched writing a record together. I grew up listening to Saves the Day and the early emo staples on Jade Tree and Deep Elm records. I was 13 years old and living in Norfolk, Virginia at the time and bands like Piebald and Lifetime were the most exciting thing I’d ever heard," Williams wrote.

"So in that vein I present to you ‘Cherry Soda’. To get this record across the finish line was…frustrating but I won’t bore you with the gory details. We’re here today and ‘Deathx1k’ the first single from the record is streaming everywhere now."

Set to be released on I Surrender Records on October 30, fans can preorder the release, including a pair of exclusive vinyl colors for Alternative Press, now.
