Julia Jacklin’s second album Crushing turned 5 years old earlier this year, and to mark the occasion the singer/songwriter has shared an acoustic performance of album track “Good Guy” with Faye Webster. The video was filmed at The Gem, a venue in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood. Watch it below:
Jacklin’s most recent release was a cover of Welsh band Catatonia’s 1999 hit “Dead from the Waist Down”, recorded for abortion access benefit compilation Noise for Now, Vol. 2. “Abortion is healthcare,” she commented. “No shame, no stigma! Any time, any reason! Your body, your choice! I will be shouting this from the rooftops until the day I die.”
Webster also contributed to the compilation, donating a live version of her song "Lifetime", which originally appeared on her 2024 album Underdressed at the Symphony. More recently, she was revealed to be among the long list of contributors to Red Hot Org's upcoming TRANSA release, out 22 November.
Jacklin has recently been in the UK, making a surprise appearance at End of the Road Festival in August followed by a weekly Monday night residency at London’s Lyric Theatre throughout September. There’s still one more date to go with that, after which she’ll visit France, The Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. Earlier this year, Jacklin held similar residencies in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and NYC, calling them “some of the best shows of my life SERIOUSLY!”
