Uwade shares new single from forthcoming debut LP 'Florilegium'

Singer-songwriter Uwade has shared a new single from her forthcoming record, Florilegium. Her debut album, out April 25 via Ehiose Records / Thirty Tigers, borrows its title from the Latin word "florilegus" which means "flower-gathering." Uwade says of this: "I offer these songs as flowers of gratitude to those who have seen me through my life. I share them with the world as a reminder to cherish opportunities for renewal."

Now, Uwade has shared a brand new single in the form of "(I Wonder) What We're Made Of", alongside a video directed by Jason Wishnow. Watch below:

Of the new song, Uwade shares this:

"Romantic love gets a lot of attention so when I was workshopping the project that would turn into ‘I Wonder,’ I wanted it to take on a different shade. It was about affection, gratitude, and devotion. Who better to dedicate it to than the people who have carried me through my life: my friends ... This past summer I took a Latin class where we translated Cicero’s 2000-year-old treatise on friendship, De Amicitia. In it one of the characters claims that a friend is an alter idem–another of the same kind, a second self. This is what this song is all about; since we’re cut from the same cloth, I wonder what we’re made of."

Uwade's star has been rising over the past few years, despite this being her first official full-length album. She has collaborated with several artists in both recorded and live settings, such as Sylvan Esso and Jamila Woods. Perhaps most notable is Fleet Foxes, whose Robin Pecknold invited Uwade to sing on the opening track of their last record, Shore. After that, she toured with them as well.

Additionally, Uwade will be headed out on a brief headlining tour, starting in London and ending in LA. Check all those dates down below.
