A week after its release and not much less since its announcement, Tyler, the Creator's semi-surprise album Don't Tap the Glass cracked the top spot on Billboard's album chart for the week of August 2.

This debut charting spot comes following an odd series of records from several voices in the mainstream music world releasing full albums with little to no notice or promotion. With this album's chart debut, Tyler, the Creator surpassed both Justin Bieber's Swag and Travis Scott's follow-up with his JACKBOYS collective, who respectively held the no. 2 and no. 1 spot the previous week (now at no. 6 and no. 4, respectively).
Tyler, the Creator thanked his fans via an Instagram story:

"thank you to everyone who decided to check this out announcing this two days before and it hit number one in such a short time means alot. thank you tell folks about it!"
