American alternative artist Twin Shadow, also known as George Lewis Jr., comes off of a short California tour with his introspective new track "Awkward Backward".
Listen here:
The single's artwork comes from Lewis Jr. welding twelve extra rearview mirrors onto his motorcycle.
Lewis Jr. says about the song:
"[It's] about insecurities—about always needing to be the first to figure out what’s going on in a relationship, to predict who’s going to jump ship first. It’s about dodging bullets and trying to get the upper hand, all in the name of protecting your own ego. But beneath that defensiveness lies an admission: these are my shortcomings. The song is a confession and an invitation to go deeper, to ask if maybe it’s finally time to stop running and truly connect.”
This is Lewis Jr.'s second single in the lead-up to his album, the first being "Dominoes".
Twin Shadow will be releasing his seventh studio album Cadet this fall under Dom Recs.
