Triathalon reflects on the past on their fuzzy new single "DOWN"

Triathalon – the New-York-based trio of Adam Intrator, Chad Chilton, and Hunter Jayne – have shared the second single off their upcoming record, Funeral Music.

The new song is called "DOWN" and it's out now. Funeral Music, the band's fifth studio album, is out May 16 on Via Lex Records.

The new single is a fuzzy bedroom pop song inspired by 2010's indie rock scene. The song during its demo phase was apparently a much slower track, but that all changed when Chad Chilton, the band's drummer, tried something different.

“Everything really changed last minute before turning the album in when Chad completely replaced the drums creating a new and refreshing change in tempo and overall feeling," Intrator said. “This altered the song as a whole and soon we decided to add an 80s metal distorted guitar tone over the whole song. It went from a very sleepy, casual demo to a very electric pop/rock anthem.”

Funeral Music, Triathalon's fifth album, got its name and concept from the phrase "play this at my funeral." The band had said it to each other many times during the recording process and decided to run with it as a theme.
