The long-awaited murder trial for the man accused in the fatal shooting of Takeoff, one-third of hip-hop’s breakout trio Migos, finally has a date.
According to his lawyer, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, 36-year-old Patrick Xavier Clark is slated to stand trial on Nov. 9.
Takeoff, born Kirsnick Khari Ball was just 28 when his life was cut short at a private gathering inside a downtown Houston bowling alley on Nov. 1, 2022. The party, held in the 1200 block of San Jacinto and hosted by J. Prince Jr. (son of Rap-A-Lot Records legend J. Prince), was supposed to be a celebration.
Officials say the tragedy unfolded in the early hours, around 2:40 a.m., after a dice game heated up. Quavo, Takeoff’s uncle, collaborator and fellow Migos member, was reportedly involved in the game and was seen on video walking away moments before gunshots rang out. Takeoff was struck and died at the scene.
Two others were struck by bullets that night but survived after being rushed to hospitals in private vehicles.
Prosecutors claim surveillance footage shows Clark pointing a gun toward a crowd and firing. They also say his fingerprints were found on a wine bottle left behind at the scene, evidence they argue ties him to the deadly shots.
But Clark’s camp isn’t backing down. From day one, he’s denied pulling the trigger, and his defense continues to stand firm: he didn’t kill the rapper.
Now, nearly three years later, the case is headed to court.
