Tori Amos fans are already eating well in 2026 with a new studio album on the horizon and an extensive European tour to follow in the spring. But there's even more good news today as the Rhino Records webshop reveals plans for a 25th anniversary edition of her covers album Strange Little Girls, arriving on February 20 next year, marking its first ever appearance on vinyl.
Alongside newly remastered versions of the dozen songs from the 2001 release (songs that were all originally by male artists), the expanded version includes two rare B-sides – David Bowie's "After All" and Alice Cooper's "Only Women Bleeds" – and two previously unheard recordings apparently from the same studio sessions: Elvis Costello's "Hoover Factory" from his 1980 album Taking Liberties, and Bruce Springsteen's "Growin' Up" from his 1973 debut, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.
Listen to "Growin' Up" below:
It may have been recorded as a way to close out her Atlantic Records contract after relations with the label soured, but Strange Little Girls was never a by-the-numbers project, with surprising takes on songs by Eminem, Slayer, and Depeche Mode alongside a handful by legendary songwriters like Tom Waits, Neil Young, and The Beatles.
Whereas the 2001 release came with six different album sleeves, each featuring Amos dressed as a different character inspired by the songs, the 2025 reissue will include all 12 of the original images from the album booklet as alternate covers. Super keen fans with a trust fund can even buy all 12 as a bundle.
