A new TLC musical titled Crazysexycool is set to hit the stage next summer in Washington, D.C. Arena Stage will present the production as part of their 75th season, with performances running at the Kreeger Theater from June 12 to August 9, 2026.
Crazysexycool will explore the lives and legacy of TLC’s members and the cultural impact the group made as a whole. The show will feature several of the hip-hop and R&B trio’s biggest hits, including “No Scrubs”, “Waterfalls”, “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg”, and “Creep.”
The musical is written by Kwame Kwei-Armah, who previously penned One Love: The Bob Marley Musical, and is reported to direct its premiere. While there’s been no official word yet on the involvement of TLC’s members in the creative process, they have publicly expressed their support for the production.
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins called the stage adaptation “a dream come true” and “a totally new and exciting challenge,” while Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas added, “Audiences will get to hear our story—mostly fact with a sprinkle of fiction—told in our own way.”
Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes tragically passed away in a car accident in 2002.
Bill Diggins of Diggit Theatrical Group, producers of the musical, shared in a press release:
“TLC completely changed the game. Their music gave a voice to women everywhere, empowering them to be confident and unapologetic. But this isn’t just a story about the music; it’s about the sisterhood between these women and what kept them together through both unimaginable challenges and chart-topping success.”
