The opening track of Attempted Martyr by the noise rock band Prostitute has been removed from streaming sites in the United States.
The album was originally released on Bandcamp and streaming in October of 2024. The tracklist remains in its entirety on Bandcamp, but the titular opening track – featuring a man reciting an Islamic prayer – has been removed from streamers like Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
Another alteration to the original release is the removal of an instrumental part in the introduction of the song, “Joumana Kayrouz”. Where there used to be a rhythmic, revving, engine-like sound, there is now an echoing drum and a single crescendoing rushing noise. The Needle Drop has reached out to Prostitute via Instagram inquiring about the changes, but they have yet to respond.
It was announced today (December 3) that Prostitute has signed to Mute Records and is rereleasing Attempted Martyr on CD and vinyl. Copies are available for preorder and will be available March 13 2026. The tracklist for this rerelease is currently unavailable on the label’s website, so it is unclear if it will include the missing titular track. The band have also rereleased the track “M. Dada” as a single titled “Mr. Dada”. The new version also has alterations, notably the absence of an instrumental sample in the introduction.

Prostitute is a noise rock band out of Dearborn, Michigan founded by frontman Moe and drummer Andrew (their last names are absent from credits and press materials). The project was conceived by Moe, whose thematic inspiration was derived from his experience as an Arab American.
According to a press release by Mute Records, Moe says, “I had an identity crisis, growing up, 9/11 started a lot of xenophobia and Arab hatred and all that kind of shit. I hated being Arabic. I hated Arabs in general, just because people were hating me. Through much of my 20s I felt like, ‘How about I be the character you want me to be?’”

Prostitute have simultaneously announced a European tour coinciding with the rerelease of Attempted Martyr. The tour begins April 17 2026 in Belgium and will end May 2 2026 in the UK.
The Attempted Martyr rerelease is out March 13. Preorder here.
