The Swell Season release new single 'Factory Street Bells'

The Swell Season – the acclaimed, Oscar-winning duo of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová – have released a third single, "Factory Street Bells", from their first album in 16 years, Forward, which is out June 13 via ATC.

The pair have also released a beautiful video, filmed by Irglová and her husband Sturla Mio Thorisson during the album's recording, which can be seen below:

Produced by Thorisson and recorded at Masterkey Studios in Iceland, the duo's forthcoming eight-song collection features original Swell Season members Marja Gaynor and Bertrand Galen (strings) and Joseph Doyle (bass), alongside newcomer Piero Perelli (drums and percussion).

"Factory Street Bells" begins gently before reaching a crescendo filled with strings, horns, and group vocals. The single follows "Stuck in Reverse" and "People We Used to Be", which saw praise by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and others.

Hansard had this to add:

“We live on a street in Helsinki called Tehtaankatu (Factory Street), in former shipyard workers flats. There’s a church on our street with a very distinctive hourly bell pattern...Christy, my son, has always visibly enjoyed the bells…and when leaving for work I'd promise him, I’ll be back as soon as I can, and in the meantime, the bells would remind him of my love and return.”
