The National have announced the 13 December release of a new live album, Rome, recorded at their June 2024 show at the Italian capital's Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. The standard release has 21 tracks, but members of the band's Cherry Tree fan club will have the chance to get their hands on a limited edition extended version featuring the full 26-song concert on green, white, and red triple vinyl.

Rome is the band's third live album for 4AD, following 2018's Boxer (Live in Brussels) and 2019's cassette release Juicy Sonic Magic, both of which were Record Store Day exclusives. They have also released various live recordings through the fan club.

As a taste of what to expect from the full release in December, the band have added NTL RM EP 1 to streaming services, featuring four songs from Rome: "I Need My Girl", "Lemonworld", "The Geese of Beverly Road", and "Lit Up".
