The Cure secure first number 1 album in 32 years with 'Songs Of A Lost World'

Returning with their 14th studio album after an indefinite hiatus, The Cure is bouncing back with their first Number 1 record in over 30 years.

The news was announced by Official Charts, as Songs Of A Lost World has made its way to the top of Official Album Charts, surpassing mammoth records Short n' Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX's record-breaking Brat, and Chappell Roan's critically acclaimed The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

The last time the post-punk legends graced the Official Albums Charts with a Number 1 album was in 1992 with their gothic shoegaze record Wish.

The Cure has since shared their gratitude in a collaborative post with Official Charts on Instagram, writing:

"IT IS ENORMOUSLY UPLIFTING, GENUINELY HEARTWARMING TO EXPERIENCE SUCH A WONDERFUL REACTION TO THE RELEASE OF 'SONGS OF A LOST WORLD' - TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BOUGHT IT, LISTENED TO IT, LOVED IT, BELIEVED IN US OVER THE YEARS - THANK YOU - X"
