The Alchemist reminisces on what could have been with old list of beats for rap icons

West Coast producer The Alchemist, has been behind the boards for numerous iconic artists, including Nas, Mobb Deep, and The LOX. He has also been involved in some notable rap rivalries, such as Lil Kim versus Foxy Brown and Drake against Kendrick Lamar. Despite the extensive resume, there remain several legendary figures he has yet to collaborate with, however.

Recently, The Alchemist shared a nostalgic moment on Instagram, posting an old list of beats intended for rappers like DMX, Method Man, Redman, and Nas.

In the IG post, he said:

“I found an old list of beats I was sending to rappers at the time, had to be in the early 2000’s. Imagine tho. I save everything. Got boxes full of sh—t. Maybe one day I’ll make a book.”

Another rapper who has escaped The Alchemist's grasp is Jay-Z. Last year, he mentioned to producer Cardo that he has pursued a collaboration with the Brooklyn artist for while now. While Jay-Z did rap over one of The Alchemist's beats on “The Neverending Story” from Jay Electronica's album A Written Testimony, a direct collaboration has yet to materialize.

Looking ahead, The Alchemist has already commenced 2025 on a productive note, though. He recently teamed up with Larry June and 2 Chainz for a full-length project and is set to release Forensics with Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def.
