Tame Impala announce new album 'Deadbeat'

The wait is finally over. Tame Impala took to Instagram today to officially announce Deadbeat, their fifth studio album, set for release on October 17. See the full post below:

An official press release for the upcoming project reads:

"Lyrically, 'Deadbeat' has Parker channelling an endless bummer, a self-deprecating fuck-up stuck in a negative feedback loop when he should have long had his shit together. Dosed in tandem with the music’s euphoric and body-moving urges, 'Deadbeat' pitches raving as self-enquiry, self-medication in lieu of self-care and the kick-on as domestic bliss."

Kevin Parker — the mastermind behind Tame Impala — has been steadily ramping up his social media presence in recent months, teasing fans with cryptic posts and short musical snippets. Along the way, he’s dropped a pair of tracks: the psychedelic house cut "End of Summer" and yesterday’s groovy "Loser", which arrived with a music video starring Djo, also known as Joe Keery.

It’s been five years since Parker’s last Tame Impala release, 2020’s The Slow Rush, but he’s kept plenty busy in the meantime, including producing for Dua Lipa and winning his first-ever Grammy Award for the Justice collaboration, "Neverender".

No official tracklist for Deadbeat has been revealed yet, but you can see the cover art below and preorder the album here. It's out October 17.
