SZA confirms new mixes and songs will be added to ‘LANA’ SOS deluxe album on 6 January

A few weeks ago, all SZA fans were expecting to listen to her new project ‘LANA’ on Friday midnight (20 December), as is usual with commercial releases. However, due to last-minute changes, the record arrived in the afternoon via Top Dawg Entertainment/RCA. “Had to get my mixes right lol!,” the “Good Days” singer informed on social media. Instead, as an appetizer, we received the music video for “Drive”, starring director-actor Ben Stiller.

Not even 24 hours after releasing the 15-track SOS deluxe, she revealed that there were three new songs in the vault waiting to be included on the recent LP. These are: “Take You Down”, “PSA”, and “Open Arms”.

She posted a screenshot of a conversation with her former manager Terrence "Punch" Henderson where she says she wants to have the aformentioned tracks out as soon as possible, claiming “they’re all mastered already.” However, The TDE co-director preferred to marinate the current release and drop the songs as a Christmas or New Year's treat.

Finally, we have a word on when the update will happen: SZA has confirmed that new mixes and songs will be added on 6 January, when the label comes back from holiday:

She also expressed her craving for these updates to be eventually available for the public, especifically for "Kitchen". ("God I need the correct mix of kitchen to be uploaded," she wrote on X.)

The R&B powerhouse tends to spend a lot of time retouching the mixes of her songs. On Christmas Eve (24 December), we found out SZA wasn't satisfied with the current mixes: "After listening w a clear mind I’m Switching some mixes out when I add stuff on Christmas lol."

SZA is set to go on a co-headlining tour alongside Kendrick Lamar. The Grand National Tour kicks off April next year in Minneapolis, including various stops in Toronto before wrapping up on 18 June in Washington D.C.
