Stockholm-based duo Viktor Westerberg and Carl Leanderson, aka Tomode, have released their first new music since last October's "Habitual Leaver." New single "Honest," featuring dusky-voiced singer/songwriter Amanda Bergman, is the lead track from their upcoming second album We Missed It While It Happened, scheduled for a February release via Riptide Records.

Listen below:

Written in a flash of inspiration on a Wurlitzer in a Paris apartment and played down the phone to Bergman a few days later, "Honest" was eventually recorded with producer Pierre Riddez (Jelly Crystal) and musicians Petter Winnberg and Nils Törnqvist (both Bergman's bandmates in currently dormant indie-pop band Amason), partly in Stockholm and partly at Bergman's farm in Dalarna.

Writing in a press release, singer Westerberg describes the track as "a simple, revolving mantra about rekindling something with a person you once cared about, and maybe still do," adding:

“In an age where surface is everything and nothing feels real, being truly open with someone about how you actually feel can be a truly radical act. Musically, we wanted to keep the production as simple as possible for that same reason. The more we took away, the closer we got to the heart of things. It felt very fitting for the theme, that something can actually become stronger the less you manicure it.”
