Sunn O))) announces new self-titled album

This morning, the prolific drone-metal outfit, Sunn O)), have announced that they're gearing up for the next chapter in their career, as the band is dropping their Sub Pop album debut on April 3.

The self-titled project marks the band's first album in seven years, since 2019 where they dropped two albums: Life Metal and Pyroclasts.

But since their come up in the late 90s, the core duo fronted by Greg Anderson and Stephen O"Malley have been prolific players in the drone-metal scene, releasing genre defining classics like Black One and Monoliths and Dimensions, and collaborating with contemporaries including Boris, Earth, and the late Scott Walker.

This new era of Sunn O)) comes after their signing to the Seattle indie label last year, to which they released an EP in mid October as their first Sub Pop contribution. The band today put out the lead single from the album, "Glory Black", a ten-minute cut that closes the six-track record. Listen here:

In addition, Sunn O))) will be touring a limited number of headlining gigs throughout the spring, starting April 1st in Phoenix, with more dates to be announced soon.
