Sunflower Bean unleash sinister single "Teach Me To Be Bad"

New York-based rock trio Sunflower Bean continue to preview their self-produced EP Shake with another sizzling track, called "Teach Me To Be Bad".

The song borrows elements of some of the better luminaries of rock 'n' roll: a blues rock hook that sounds like the sinister twin of Joan Jett, vocal howls recalling PJ Harvey at her most primal, and drums that channel the lashing intensity of Black Sabbath's timeless "War Pigs". Check out video below.

In the song, Sunflower Bean – the trio of Julia Cumming (bass, lead vocals), Nick Kivlen (guitars, backing vocals), and Olive Faber (drums) – wanted to catch the sense of danger and thrill of getting intimate with someone new: "A chance meeting with a special person can change your life forever," the band comment. "It can be exhilarating and frightening to fall madly for someone you barely know.”

Shake will arrive on September 27th via Lucky Number. You can preorder the EP here.

To celebrate the release, Sunflower Bean have announced an NYC event at Roxy Cinema on September 25th. It will feature a 14-minute audiovisual performance that showcases each track via an interpretation of the natural elements: earth, wind, water, fire, and metal. In addition to a screening of the short film, there will be a Q&A with the band and director Isaac Roberts. For the cherry on top, there will be a showing of the Dario Argento-directed classic Deep Red.

Sunflower Bean will also do a handful of shows this Fall. See the full dates listed below:
