The Flaming Lips guitarist Steven Drozd quietly confirmed that he's no longer in the band, via a (now-deleted) response to a fan on Threads.

In Drozd's words: "they're done with me – but we're not talking about it. So yes I'm moving on."

The Flaming Lips' guitarist for over three decades, Drozd was a crucial element to their sound, handling multiple instruments and songwriting alongside singer Wayne Coyne.

Fans have been speculating that the band and Drozd parted ways, with recent Flaming Lips concerts featuring Adam Judd "AJ" Slaughter taking his place. Drozd hasn't been involved with the outfit since 2024, but did not verify his departure until December 17th.
