Steve Lacy has come back with “New Shoes”, his first track in three years, and the lead single of a new upcoming album titled Oh Yeah?
Produced by Lacy with additional production and writing credits from Nick Weiss (Nightfeelings) and Matthew Castellanos, “New Shoes” incorporates a vocal sample of James Brown from Lyn Collins’ “Think (About It).”

The alt-R&B star revealed the follow-up to his Grammy-winning Gemini Rights in an interview for Rolling Stone yesterday (August 14), which he says is “slated to drop in the near future,” and features cover art that references the Kool-Aid man, whose catchphrase “Oh Yeah!” has been flipped to a question for the album’s title. “I took his face out the glass. Hopefully I don’t get sued,” he joked.
He also says that he has been “hanging out” with his bandmates in The Internet and that we can “expect new music soon.”
Lacy has also put up for sale a shirt with the (not) Kool-Aid Man’s face, called “Glitch Face”, here.
