Squid cancels tour dates in China and Malaysia after band member suffers facial fractures

Squid has announced via Instagram that they have canceled some of their upcoming tour dates due to one of the band members having been "involved in an accident."

The Brighton band has been touring Europe and was set to play in China's "Sonic Jam Festival", located in Xi'an, China, on September 8.

Squid took to Instagram to deliver the sad news.

“One of us was involved in an accident and has multiple facial fractures,” the band stated on their post. The identity of the band member and the incident that occurred is unknown. They were told by a surgical team that it wouldn't be safe for the band member to fly. Given the complex arrangements and overall nature of the band's music, they felt getting a substitute musician would be "difficult to arrange at a few days' notice."

It's unclear when Squid will be able to get back on stage, but they had this to say about future shows,

“We were massively looking forward to playing in these new cities and meeting our fans who have been so supportive, and this outcome is very disappointing to us all. We will work to come back and play these shows as soon as we can."

Squid have been enjoying a busy Summer filled with shows across Europe, South America, and the UK. Earlier this year they toured their latest album O Monolith. The album is a follow-up to their debut record Bright Green Field and received critical acclaim.
