The track was made when McAfee did a freestyle of it working a College GameDay event in Oregon. McAfee then started talking to music professionals who helped him record a batch of songs he plans on turning into a full album.
"This has been a lot of fun. This has been a journey into music, which I’ve obviously always been a huge fan,” said McAfee. Here's a clip of McAfee talking more about the song and his album:
BREAKING NEWS: Thursday at midnight I will be releasing my first song "Dookie"
— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) December 3, 2025
The journey into music has been a lot of fun and I've been writing for a long time #PMSLive https://t.co/gXvUogdq23 pic.twitter.com/1Dwu8zdWDg
McAfee said that most of the songs came from ideas in his notes, and that more music will come out in the coming months. “The ‘Dookie’ freestyle that becomes a song is the first one we’re putting out, but there’s some real-life messaging coming out in songs from me over the next couple of months.”
If you want to listen to "Dookie", it's on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.
