One of the most iconic songs from the original This Is Spinal Tap has to be "Big Bottom", which features three bass players underscoring the comically sexual lyrics. On September 8th, Spinal Tap appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform the track with five bassists.
These included the trio of Spinal Tap's core members – Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest), and David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) – augmented by the legendary Thundercat and Tal Wilkenfeld. Performing behind the quintet were drummer D.D. Crockett and keyboardist C.J. Vanston. Check out the performance below.
The band also spoke with Kimmel about their upcoming sequel to the 1984 cult classic, alongside director Rob Reiner (alias Marty Di Bergi). You can watch the interview here.
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues arrives in theaters this Friday, September 12th.
