Soccer Mommy drops new single "Driver", announces world tour

Ahead of new album Evergreen, Soccer Mommy – the project of Sophie Allison – shares new single "Driver".

"Driver" brings an intriguing push-and-pull dynamic between edgier alternative rock hooks and more shoegaze-indebted atmospherics. Check out the video below.

Allison had the following to say about the song:

"’Driver’ is a love song that’s really about someone being there for you in spite of your shortcomings. It’s more light hearted than some of the other songs I’ve put out this year, using my distractedness as a bit of a punchline."

"Driver" follows the singles "M" and "Lost" as the third cut revealed for Evergreen. Soccer Mommy teased the song with a “How’s My Driving?” hotline and bumper stickers mailed to fans. Today she had launched a merch line with keychains, bumper stickers, plus the announcement of a Soccer Mommy x Plushie Love collaboration. Check out the retail store and the Evergreen-plushie here.

Evergreen will be released on October 25th via Loma Vista Recordings. Allison has taken a more organic, unvarnished writing approach from the more electronic-driven Sometimes, Forever, which was co-produced by Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never). She crafted Evergreen in the wake of personal loss, and naturally kept things more sonically grounded. True to the project's indie rock roots, but with added textural depth from acoustic guitars, lush strings and flutes.
