Snoop Dogg has been on a flurry of interviews and press in support of the release of his latest collaborative album with Dr. Dre, Missionary, a reference to his debut full-length Doggystyle.
In a recent appearance on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, Kev asked the West Coast icon about his thoughts on Drake’s recent lawsuit to Universal Music Group and Spotify over allegedly artificially boosting the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us”. The rapper laughed and wanted to move on from the topic – “next question," he said at first. But he decided to open up a bit on the subject: "you know, on the West, we hold court in the streets.”
The host also wanted to know how did he feel about Drizzy’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” – which used AI-generated vocals of Snoop. He said:
“Man, I don’t want to be on nobody’s shit man. I like being on my own shit. […] No, I didn’t (know that happened), I’m such a big figure, I’m Uncle Snoop. I’m accessible to everybody, so everybody feels like they can because I don’t have too many parameters when it comes to me, but when it comes to beef, that’s a real parameter that I do have. I don’t get in nobody’s beef, I’m usually the one who ends the beef. But if it’s out of my reach then I step out and allow two men to get an understanding […] I’m from the West, so my heart lies on the West, but when it comes to this shit, you’re going to handle your business cause’ you’re from the motherfucking West. You don’t need no help. And if you needed help, you wouldn’t have to ask. I would have been on the double.”
Lamar recently surprise-dropped his latest record GNX to great acclaim. The first track, “wacced out murals”, finds the rapper tackling many topics, one of them being Snoop posting the 6 God’s diss track on his Instagram account.
“Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made,’ I prayed it was the edibles / I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go,” K-dot rapped.
The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” singer took notice and apologized on X with a post clarifying that it was in fact the edibles.

Kev asked Snoop about being called out in Lamar's LP introduction, to which he was blunt:
“He’s a rapper. He’s supposed to speak his mind and tell his truth. That’s the way he felt. He has the right to say that. I’m his big homeboy, so I’ve got to take what’s given to me from his perspective because he’s speaking truth. And the truth shouldn’t hurt you, it should make you better. I’m one to accept truth when it’s brought to me directly.”
Afterwards, he explains that the whole post situation was a mistake: “I did a collaborative post with someone. […] When I do it, I don’t listen to the music, I just see ‘Gin & Juice’, because it’s my brand. […] Then I get the word (that) nephew (Kendrick) didn’t like what you did, […] so then I deleted it, called nephew, and left him a message.”
