Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre announce 'Missionary', their first collaborative album in 30 years

Songs like "The Next Episode" and "Still D.R.E." are some of hip hop's most electrifyingly definitive musical statements of the past few decades. It's difficult to hear those songs and not think that Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were practically made for each other. So then, how shocked are you to be reminded that not since Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle in 1993 have we heard an entire album of the two working together?

According to the two west coast legends, that's all about to change. While it's been hinted at as far back as 2022, Dr. Dre confirmed that he is planning for a November 2024 release date of a new collaborative record entitled Missionary, explaining in an Entertainment Tonight interview that the finished product is due in soon.

In the interview, Dre explains that he believes that with the friendship he and Snoop Dogg have forged over the decades, he actually enjoyed working on Missionary more than Doggystyle, going on to say, "We were kids at that time, and this one's going to show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music."

In addition to Snoop Dogg, names such as EPMD's Erick Sermon and 50 Cent have already come out to say they'll be making appearances on Missionary. While Snoop Dogg has never slowed down when it comes to output, a proper follow-up to that hip hop classic certainly grants an air of prestige to the upcoming record that practically hasn't existed in a Snoop Dogg project since. At this point, all one can do is make like a missionary and pray.
