Yesterday, Conor Murphy, the frontman 0f the St. Louis emo band Foxing, announced a new album under his Smidley alias. It's called Murphy Horse, and it's out September 25th on Royal Mountain Records.
Murphy also released the album's lead single "Capstone," which features Lucy Dacus. Watch the video, directed and edited by Murphy, below:
Murphy describes the record, saying: "These songs summarize a year of confusion and doubt where the only thing I was actually sure of is that I married the love of my life. Those two ideas where the basis for every song here."
The current iteration of Smidley consists of Murphy, Foxing bassist Brett Torrence on guitar, bassist Mitch Renfrew, and drummer Jack Middeke. Murphy Horse was mixed and mastered by Joe Reinhard (Dr. Dog, Joyce Manor) and Ryan Schwabe (Algernon Cadwell). The record also features Adam Schatz of Japanese Breakfast and Brooks Tipson of Manchester Orchestra.
