After months of rumours, Sleater-Kinney and Carrie Brownstein's Portlandia collaborator Fred Armisen are officially starting their Ramones cover band. They're called Return Of Jackie And Judy, after the NYC band's 1980 track, and they're already booked to play at Bottlerock festival in May.
In 1996, Sleater-Kinney scored their first big song with "I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone". Since then, the band has famously played Ramones versions as part of their live shows, but the idea of forming an official cover band apparently came up when the group and Armisen were invited by John Mulaney to perform at his Netflix show's season wrap party.
From then on, they played two sold-out shows on Halloween and the rest is history.
On their new Instagram account, you can watch a video of the band playing the classic "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment" – featuring Armisen on the drums, with a Ramones wig.
