Cops apparently don’t want you stage diving at a Turnstile show, at least not in Richmond, Virginia. In fact, they might pepper-spray you, as was the case for a young fan at a recent concert. The irony is that stage diving is basically a given at a Turnstile show. It’s become part of their whole identity, something you can expect to see every night.

The whole thing was caught on video during Turnstile’s encore and posted on Reddit. As the band invited fans on stage, people began hopping the barrier. That’s when a sheriff’s deputy pepper-sprayed one of the fans in the face. The footage also shows bassist Franz Lyons noticing the spray and quickly pulling frontman Brendan Yates away from the cloud. The fan who took the spray head-on received medical attention, and the story has since been picked up by WTVR and CBS 6 News in Richmond (video below).

The Richmond Sheriff’s Department has confirmed an investigation into the incident is underway.
