Shabaka announces new album, 'Of The Earth'

British musician Shabaka is bringing earthiness with his new album, Of The Earth. His third solo effort is set to come out on March 6th, via his own new label, Shabaka Records.

Today, he gave us a double first taste of the album: singles "A Future Untold" and "Marwa the Mountain". Listen below.

Of The Earth is entirely written, performed, produced and mixed by Shabaka himself, who also designed the artwork for the "A Future Untold/Marwa the Mountain" single. According to the artist, the album was initially inspired by D'Angelo's Brown Sugar album, which is also entirely self-made.

Shabaka also notes he sees Of The Earth as an album of integration, which unites the textured and dance-driven work he did with his bands Sons of Kemet and The Comet Is Coming with the subtlety of his solo tracks.

Along with the album, Shabaka announced a brief string of US tour dates you can check out down below.
