Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been found guilty of wire fraud in their $1 million federal trial. A jury in Broward County deliberated for three hours before convicting them on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, with sentencing set for July 11.
The case stems from a May 2024 SWAT raid on Kingston’s South Florida mansion, which followed allegations of failing to pay for luxury goods. Prosecutors detailed a scheme where Kingston and Turner defrauded sellers of high-end vehicles, jewelry, and other goods using fake wire transfers.
One key witness, jeweler Moshe Edery, testified that Kingston provided a falsified wire transfer screenshot for a $285,000 Audemars Piguet watch, leading to Edery’s termination and blacklisting. Text messages presented in court showed Kingston instructing his mother to create a "fake receipt" to delay payments.
Kingston, best known for his 2007 hit "Beautiful Girls," ultimately declined to testify in his defense.
