Sean "Diddy" Combs's lawyer suddenly steps down

Soon before his scheduled trial in May, disgraced rapper and media mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has had another complication thrown his way, as his lawyer recently announced he would be withdrawing from counsel.

Anthony Ricco filed a motion for withdraw of counsel in New York, and released a cryptic statement to accompany it:

Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs

Ricco has said he will not be providing further details, but that the trial is still set to begin on May 5th. Diddy is being charged with racketeering, sex trafficking by force, and transportation for purposes of prostitution. He denies all allegations and has pled not guilty as he awaits trial. He is currently being held at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Diddy's attorneys have previously denied the charges against him, and lambasted the media for allegedly spreading rumors about incidents he was involved in:

As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus. That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.

In addition to this case, Diddy has been involved in more than thirty civil lawsuits accusing him of misconduct and sexual assault.
