Sean Combs cleared of sex trafficking and racketeering charges, found guilty of prostitution charges

Sean "Diddy" Combs was found guilty on two of five counts in his highly publicized sex trafficking trial, though he was acquitted of the most serious charges. After 13 hours of deliberation, the jury delivered a split (but unanimous) verdict following the trial that began on May 5.

The jury acquitted the disgraced music mogul of one racketeering conspiracy charge and two sex trafficking counts, but found him guilty on two charges of transporting individuals for prostitution.

The prosecution struggled to persuade the jury that their two central witnesses — his former partner Cassandra Ventura and another former partner identified only as "Jane" — were coerced into participating in the sex and drug-fueled gatherings known as "freak offs" and "wild king nights."

Combs and his defense team chose not to call any witnesses. Instead, they leaned heavily on extensive digital evidence — texts and social media messages — to argue that Ventura and "Jane" participated in these events consensually.

In addition to his criminal trial, Combs is contending with a slew of civil lawsuits filed by former associates and employees. One such case, brought by Ventura in November 2023, was swiftly resolved with a $20 million settlement. The terms of the deal included no admission of guilt from Combs.

Diddy’s legal team is now asking the judge to let him out on a $1 million bond as he awaits sentencing. The judge will make a decision this afternoon on that request. He could still face up ten years in prison for the charges he was found guilty on.
