Swedish folk figurehead Sara Parkman follows last month's single "Svarta tråden" with news of her upcoming fourth album, Aster, atlas, coming May 8 on her own Supertraditional label, plus two new tracks from the record to hear right now.
As Parkman writes in a press release, “Paradiset” and “Ora et labora” are "two tracks that mirror each other – day and night, light and moisture. The eternal toil and the moments of ecstasy. Neither exists without the other."
Watch the videos for both tracks, directed by Martin Falck, below:
Going into more detail about the songs, Parkman adds:
“'Ora et labora' is the light, the day, eternity, Sisyphus, hope and faith. The ritual, again and again, the routine, the craftsmanship. Pray and work, pray and work, what else can we do when the world is burning but we believe in life?
And then those endless seconds before dawn, “Paradiset”, the moment that never ends; you moved on to the after-party, it was a good choice, murky beauty in abundance, a cornucopia, the magical garden, someone lapping up booze from a navel, another vomiting into a coffee pot, fantasy and reality intertwine."
"Paradiset" is co-written by and features Norwegian artist Tuva Syvertsen, who's most often found playing with Valkyrien Allstars and hosting Tuvas Blodklubb in Oslo. Parkman's regular collaborator Hampus Norén also co-wrote and co-produced both "Paradiset" and "Ora et labora".
