Sacred Paws return from 5-year hiatus with new song "Another Day"

Ray Aggs and Eilidh Rodgers didn't mean to take so long to follow-up their second album Run Around the Sun, but they didn't not mean to either. Not wanting to force the work, they instead took as much time as they needed for their ideas to gather enough momentum. In the meantime, Aggs put out two solo records and a soundtrack, plus records with their other bands Trash Kit and Shopping, but there was never a serious question that Sacred Paws wouldn't return.

New single "Another Day" does it in style, steering the band in the direction of country while keeping the catchy, off-kilter pop sensibility that made Run Around the Sun so enjoyable. "We loved how this song instantly sounded kind of country to us," say the duo in a press release, explaining that it's Aggs's dad who plays the banjo on the track, adding:

"The harmonies have a really satisfying longing that sums up the emotional drive of a song about not really knowing where a new relationship is going but anticipating heartbreak. Ray added fiddle in the demo, but it wasn’t until the mixing stage that we had the idea to put banjo on it. Ray has been playing music with their dad since forever, but this is the first time they have been on a record together."

Listen to "Another Day" below, out now on Rock Action Records in the UK and Merge Records internationally.
