Long Island rap heavyweight Roc Marciano and Los Angeles producer The Alchemist return for their second collaborative album The Skeleton Key.
The duo last teamed up for their 2022 record The Elephant Man's Bones. And much like their previous record, The Skeleton Key is already available for digital purchase through Roc Marciano's website, but the record will still be released on all streaming platforms this Friday, 13 December (minus two bonus songs, sadly).
The duo has also released their single "Chopstick" everywhere. Watch the music video here:
The music video, edited and directed by fellow rapper Evidence, features Al and Roc swerving down the glistening streets of Los Angeles and posted up at the Downtown Los Angeles library.
The Skeleton Key thematically has Roc Marciano and the Alchemist being the new hip-hop tastemakers: "Me & Alchemist, we the gatekeepers, Key Makers, your sh– don’t shake unless we sanction it," Roc says via a press release.
On December 7, Roc Marciano and The Alchemist hosted a listening party for The Skeleton Key at Art Basel Miami. It also featured a visual simulation by Josué Thomas, who also made the cover for the upcoming record and part of Roc Marciano's ART THAT KILLS label.
Marci has had a busy 2024 with this being his second record this year, after Marciology (which too included some Alchemist-produced tracks) as well as features on albums from Mach-Hommy, Flee Lord, and Brother Ali. The Alchemist has had a busy year as well: winning the coveted BET award for best producer, working with father-son duo Big Hit and Hit Kid, and soundtracking Kendrick Lamar's jaw-dropping "Meet the Grahams" among other accolades.
