Robyn reimagines early hit “Blow My Mind” as a tribute to her son

Two decades after its original release, Robyn has revisited one of her early songs, and turned it into something far more personal.

The Swedish pop architect has unveiled “Blow My Mind”, the latest single from her upcoming ninth album, Sexistential. It’s a rework of a song she first released in 2002 on Don't Stop the Music.

Back then, “Blow My Mind” was all about the dizzy, physical rush of romance the kind of intimate, late-night pop confession that defined Robyn’s early 2000s output. In 2026, it’s something far more personal. Robyn has reworked the lyrics, kicked the tempo into a higher gear, and reshaped the track into a love letter to her three-year-old son.

She says:

“‘Blow My Mind’ is the one song on the album about my son. I was in that early stage when I was with him all the time, and something about that closeness opened the song up to me again. Listening back to the original I thought, ‘I think it’s one of the best songs I ever recorded, and I’m just gonna do it again.’ I rewrote the lyrics and I love this version’s rawness. It’s not cute, because it’s not cute with children. They’re cute, but the experience isn’t. It’s very punk.”

Sexistential arrives March 27 and marks the long-awaited follow-up chapter in Robyn’s catalog. So far, she’s teased the project with singles “Dopamine”, “Talk to Me”, and the title track “Sexistential”, each hinting at a record that leans as much into emotional introspection as it does club-ready catharsis.

To bring the album to the stage, Robyn will head out on a headlining tour later this year, including six North American shows scheduled for September. Before that, she’ll also appear as a special guest for the Amsterdam dates of Harry Styles’s Together, Together residency.

Sexistential is out March 27 via Young Records, and available for pre-order here.
